THE OSAKA STATION HOTEL, Autograph Collection, a luxury hotel directly connected to Osaka Station

On July 31, a new luxury hotel opened in an excellent location directly connected to JR Osaka Station, which attracts many tourists from Japan and abroad.
Kodawari Times went to a preview of the hotel just prior to its opening, and would like to introduce the hotel’s lobby, guest rooms, restaurants, and other interesting facilities.
Let’s take a peek at the extraordinary space that will unfold from Osaka Station.

Excellent access directly connected to the West Exit of JR Osaka Station

THE OSAKA STATION HOTEL, Autograph Collection, a new hotel by JR West Hotels, opened on July 31. The Autograph Collection is a collection of independent hotels from around the world developed by Marriott International, a global hotel brand, and this will be the fifth hotel in Japan.

The Osaka Station Hotel, Autograph Collection Entrance

The hotel entrance is located on the first floor of JR Tower Osaka, a new station building directly connected to the west exit of JR Osaka Station, the largest terminal in western Japan, with banquet rooms on the seventh floor, and the front desk, lobby, guest rooms, and restaurants on the 29th through 38th floors.

Although there are several luxury hotels in the Osaka Station area, the hotel’s location directly connected to JR Osaka Station is very attractive.
This luxury hotel with excellent accessibility was created by a team of a Japanese hotel and one of the world’s largest hotels. It is sure to become one of the leading hotels in Osaka in the future.

Hotel lobby with attention to detail

Upon entering the hotel entrance on the first floor, locomotive license plates and other items were on display. It has been 150 years since the first Osaka Station was built. As the hotel concept of “a journey through time and space” suggests, this is the beginning of a time travel journey through history and memories.

Take the elevator to the 29th floor, and you will see the front desk, the starting point of your journey. The front desk is shaped like an island, like an old train station ticket gate, and is said to resemble a ticket office. The egg-shaped object made of stacked railroad sleepers is also tasteful.

And in the center of the hotel lobby, “THE STATION SQUARE”, which is inspired by the plaza of the first Osaka Station, spreads out. The “WATER STATION” seen in the back is a modern version of the “FURUMAI MIZU” that healed travelers in the Edo period and provides delicious water.

Something you won’t find in other hotels is this clock. If you look closely, you will see that two cleaners working at the station are moving the hands of the clock! It’s kind of a mysterious art space, and you can forget about time and look at it for a long time.

Next is the hotel’s main guest room. All guestroom floors are from the 30th to the 38th floor, and all rooms are on the 30th floor or higher. There are a total of 418 guest rooms, including 8 suites, 208 twin rooms, and 202 king rooms. All rooms offer a panoramic view of the Osaka cityscape.

The room number indicator in each room is based on a railroad signal light, the doorknob on a brake handle, and other station/railroad touches. A closer look at the guest rooms reveals many fine design innovations.

Restaurant offering buffet, Teppanyaki, and more

The restaurant at THE OSAKA STATION HOTEL is also a concentrated example of the hotel’s attention to detail.
In a restaurant space with a great view, you can enjoy a menu that pursues the one and only “food”. Let’s take a look at each restaurant.

THE LOBBY LOUNGE

The lobby lounge features a “roof of light,” inspired by the gable roof of the original Osaka Station’s Kirizuma-yane (gable roof ー a mountain-shaped design with the roof falling in two directions). A huge artwork resembling a railroad track hangs from the 10-meter-high ceiling, which is very original.
You can enjoy afternoon tea in three parts (two parts during the day and one part at night) with seasonal fruits and 14 kinds of French tea brand “Daman Freres. Seating capacity is 81.

Let’s heal your travel fatigue in an extraordinary space!

The lobby and guest rooms are decorated in the motif of the first Osaka Station and railroads, and the restaurant symbolizes Osaka’s culinary culture. It was a wonderful hotel that gradually drew you out of your daily routine and into an extraordinary space, as if you were traveling through time and space from the present to the past and future.
You will feel your fatigue from your trip healed in this calm space that you cannot imagine from the bustling city of Osaka.
The new “THE OSAKA STATION HOTEL,” directly connected to JR Osaka Station, is definitely worth a visit.

Also located in the same building as the hotel is the new commercial facility “KITTE Osaka.” It houses antenna stores and a wide variety of restaurants from all over Japan, so be sure to check it out as well.
