There are fewer than six months to go until the opening of “GREEN×EXPO 2027,” the international festival of flowers and greenery to be held in Yokohama next year. Details about the event are gradually being released, and I can’t wait for it to start.

Only half a year remains until the opening of “GREEN×EXPO 2027” in Yokohama

The “International Horticultural Expo 2027 (abbreviated as GREEN×EXPO 2027)” will be held from Friday, March 19, 2027, through Sunday, September 26, 2027, at the former Kamiseya Communications Facility site in Yokohama.
September 19, 2026, marked exactly six months until the opening of the expo. It’s drawing a lot of attention as the next international exposition to be held in Japan following the hugely successful “Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan,” which concluded in 2025.

As its official name, the International Horticultural Expo 2027, suggests, this event—featuring participation from over 70 countries and international organizations—focuses on addressing environmental challenges through the use of flowers, greenery, gardens, agriculture, food, and nature.
Information is gradually being released not only about participating countries but also about Japanese companies (private pavilions), and anticipation for the opening is growing.

New Collaboration Merchandise Continues to Roll Out

The official merchandise for GREEN×EXPO 2027 is generating a lot of buzz in Japan. A wide variety of items are available, featuring the official mascot “Tunk Tunk” and the logo. The collaboration items are drawing particular attention. So far, collaborations with “Myaku Myaku,” the official mascot of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, and “Sanrio Characters” have been a huge hit, with long lines forming at stores and items selling out the very same day.

Moomin

GREEN×EXPO 2027 is collaborating with Moomin, the beloved Finnish character franchise enjoyed around the world. This collaboration was born out of a shared resonance with the “Moomin” values of “living in harmony with nature (respect for nature),” which aligns perfectly with the theme of GREEN×EXPO 2027.

Sanrio Characters

This collaboration with Sanrio characters—which has been generating a lot of buzz since the first installment—is back. The long-awaited new collection went on sale on July 10.
These plush toys feature beloved Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Cinnamoroll, Each plush features a popular Sanrio character giving the official mascot, Tunk Tunk, an adorable hug.

The collection comes in two types: the “BC (ball chain)” version, perfect for taking with you on outings, and the “M” size, which you’ll want to hug right away. It’s great that you can choose your favorite character and style to buy!

Admission tickets are currently on sale on the official website, at major convenience stores nationwide, and through travel agencies and ticket resellers.

Among these options, we’d like to highlight KKday and convenience stores as recommended purchase methods for international tourists.
KKday is a travel booking platform offering tours, activities, transportation, and attraction tickets worldwide., and it supports multiple languages, including Japanese, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, English, and Korean.

After purchasing admission tickets on the official KKday website or via the official KKday app, you’ll need to “Add Tickets” on the official ticket site and register your visit date and time on or after Friday, September 18, 2026, to ensure you can visit at your specified time.

Also, starting Friday, September 18, 2026—when reservations for visit dates and times open—admission tickets with pre-scheduled visit dates and times will go on sale at convenience stores nationwide. These tickets eliminate the need to make an online reservation for your visit date and time, so they’re convenient if you’ve already decided when you’ll be visiting.
You can purchase them at major convenience stores throughout Japan, so you can buy them whenever you feel like going. Since they’re issued as paper tickets, we recommend keeping them as a souvenir.
