What is Katsuo-ji Temple?

It is known for its beautiful red color and impressive architecture, and is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.

What are the highlights of Katsuo-ji Temple?

One of the highlights of Katsuo-ji Temple is the unique “Daruma”. These dolls are said to bring good luck and are popular.

A “daruma” is a traditional Japanese doll.

Daruma has a round body, so it will get up even if you let it fall down.Therefore, it is considered auspicious because it can recover from any difficulties.

“Kachi daruma(勝ちダルマ）” darma dolls are sold at Katsuo-ji Temple.Kachi means to win.

Things to do at Katsuo-ji Temple

Purchase the “Kachi daruma” mentioned earlier, and first write the wish you want to achieve on the back of the daruma.

Then, at the bottom of the daruma, write your life purpose.And then write an eye on the Daruma’s right eye.

If your wish comes true within a year, it is polite to report the darma to the Buddha at Katsuo-ji Temple.

To do this, write an eye on the left eye of the darma, visit the main hall, and dedicate it.

Katsuo-ji Temple has a shelf where many darmas are dedicated. Look at the number!

In spring, the grounds are filled with vibrant flowers. Even the traditional Japanese flower, the cherry blossom, will be in bloom!

In summer, the scenery is very refreshing with lush new greenery.

And what a fall! Katsuo-ji Temple is very popular during the fall foliage season. Every year, many tourists with cameras visit the temple.
