Special Natto Series

Hello! I’m Hakoboya, Kodawari Times’ souvenir promotion captain.╭(·ᴗ·)╮╰(·ᴗ·)╯
I love to eat. I eat too much, and nowadays I’m worried about my gastrointestinal tract…. Now is the time to start gut healthy! I have started a habit of eating natto every day. Natto is a Japanese fermented food made from fermented soybeans. It is now attracting attention from around the world as a superfood that regulates the intestinal environment.
In this issue, we introduce recommended products of natto, a Japanese health food! A new natto series has been introduced that even those who dislike natto should try.

Enjoy natto as a reward for gut healthy

“Gut healthy” refers to engaging in a lifestyle that regulates the intestinal environment by, for example, consuming foods that contain beneficial bacteria and foods that feed the beneficial bacteria. As the phrase “the gut is the second brain” suggests, research has indicated that the state of the gut can have a significant impact on emotions.

Natto is one of the ingredients said to be good for gut healthy, but if you keep eating the same kind of natto every day, you will get tired of it. In fact, I have tried to arrange natto by adding various ingredients, but the taste of natto is still very strong, so what should I do? I was wondering what to do.
That’s when I found this “Tokusen (Special) Natto Series”.

Special Natto Series

Aizawa Shokusan, founded in 1953 and located in Fukusaki-cho, Kanzaki-gun, Hyogo Prefecture, has created a new type of natto. Aizawa Shokuhin is always developing new products by actively incorporating new technology while preserving the tradition of production. The “Tokusen (Special) Natto Series” introduced here was created with the hope that people will enjoy eating a different type of natto every day as a “reward” and think about their health.

Recommendations for the “Tokusen NATTO Series”

Let us introduce the features of the “Tokusen NATTO Series”.

Characteristics (1) Natto made with 7 kinds of ingredients

After repeated trial and error with more than 30 different ingredients to create a new natto, we were able to commercialize eight special NATTOs using seven different ingredients.

In addition to organic soybeans, tamba kuromame (black beans) from Hyogo Prefecture, glutinous barley produced in Fukusaki-cho, Hyogo Prefecture, and red soybeans from Shiga Prefecture, rare natto such as panda beans, edamame, and pistachio are also available. Take this opportunity to try this new natto sensation.

Characteristics (2) Can be enjoyed as a sweet or a salad

Natto is usually served over rice. Aizawa Shokusan’s “Tokusen Natto Series” can be enjoyed as an accompaniment to rice, but it can also be enjoyed like a sweet or salad.

“Edamame natto” and “pistachio natto” are best enjoyed as a snack with salt or olive oil. The fresh aroma of olive oil and salt enhances the sweetness of edamame and the rich flavor of pistachio. It is a new way of eating natto that overturns the conventional image of natto! I would love to try it in different ways.

Characteristics (3) Carefully manufactured in our own factory

We are preserving tradition, pioneering new ways, and creating a more beloved taste. They make natto at their Fukusaki factory and their organic JAS-certified Kadera factory.

Carefully manufactured in our own factory

What is important in natto making is traditional intuition and technique, and a pioneering spirit. The craftsman’s intuition to adjust fermentation and maturation according to the condition of the beans and the weather. The traditional process of making natto using the human eye and hand, rather than relying on chance. The insatiable pioneering spirit to create “something better” or “something that does not exist yet. The quality that we can proudly say is “the best” is the result of our continuous efforts to preserve all of the above.

Craftsmanship in the production of natto

Natto production requires the skill and intuition of a craftsman because you are dealing with a living organism called natto bacillus. Knowing the background of the careful manufacturing process, I thought again that I want to eat natto carefully, piece by piece.

Product Description

Let’s take a look at the lineup of eight different types of natto made from seven different ingredients.

Tambaguro (Tare Wasabi)

Tambaguro (Tare Wasabi)

The sticky texture and the gentle sweetness of the large, “black diamond” Tambaguro(Black beans grown in the Tamba region) are enhanced by the wasabi(Japanese horseradish).

Tambaguro (Sweets)

Tambaguro (Sweets)

The dusty taste of Tambaguro is topped with kuromitsu(Brown sugar syrup) to create a soft and gentle sweet. The gooey taste of the kuromitsu is also a lasting taste.

Pistachio

Pistachio

The slightly sweet richness and sticky texture go perfectly with natto. Refreshing with salt. Please experience the new texture of pistachios.

Panda bean

Panda bean

Large, seaweed-like flavored panda beans, fermented to the core to make them fluffy and very satisfying. Enjoy the strength of the stringiness as well.

Red soybean

Red soybean

Natto is made from secret beans from Shiga Prefecture. Enjoy the flavor of the large, rich, robust beans and the strong, stringy consistency.

Edamame (green soybeans)

Edamame (green soybeans)

Slightly salty, with a good crunch, and refreshing with olive oil. It is recommended as an accompaniment to alcoholic beverages.

With glutinous barley

with glutinous barley

Made from glutinous barley, a specialty of Fukusaki Town, Hyogo Prefecture, where the factory is located. Natto is made from glutinous barley, which is full of dietary fiber. The elasticity is very firm. The strong stickiness with a sense of weight makes it very satisfying to eat.

Organic soybeans

Organic soybeans

Organic soybeans “Oosuzu” from Aomori Prefecture, grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers in accordance with the Organic JAS Law, are used. Large, firm texture and firm elasticity. The strong stickiness with a sense of weight makes it very satisfying to eat.

I am surprised that there are so many different types of natto! I am especially interested in unusual natto such as pistachio and edamame. Edamame natto with olive oil is so fashionable, isn’t it? I can’t even imagine what Tambaguro sweet natto tastes like.
With so many varieties of natto, even those who have never liked natto can find a natto that they like!
