Report on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai at the Hong Kong Book Fair

The Japan Association for the International Expositions, Inc. is actively engaged in activities overseas in preparation for the opening of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. We recently visited Paris, France, for the Japan Expo, where we promoted the charms of the Expo to Parisians, and as expected from a city that has hosted the Expo many times in the past, the crowd was as excited as we had hoped it would be.

Following the success of the Paris Expo, we headed to Hong Kong to further promote the event!
We went to the 34th Hong Kong Book Fair, a major book-related trade fair.

A very successful Expo presentation and MYAKU-MYAKU greeting time

The stage for this year’s Expo2025 PR is the Hong Kong Book Fair. It is the largest B to C event in Hong Kong with over 700 exhibitors from various countries and regions. We set up an exhibition booth here and also promoted the Expo on the main stage.

At the PR booth set up in the Japan Pavilion, MC’s gave six presentations a day at the Expo! The attraction of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai was introduced to many visitors.

Promoting the Expo with Team Japan

Minister in charge of the Expo, Hanako Jimi, also visited the event. He gave gifts to the participants who answered the quiz and made the event more exciting together.

MYAKU-MYAKU also walked around the venue as part of the MYAKU-MYAKU greeting time.

Promoting the Expo with Team Japan

Many people wanted to have their photo taken with MYAKU-MYAKU. I had heard that Hong Kong has a high level of awareness of the Expo, and I realized that this is really true.

MYAKU-MYAKU collaborates with mascot characters from around Japan!

MYAKU-MYAKU’s appearance on the main stage was a collaboration with Kumamon.

MYAKU-MYAKU also co-stars with Hyogo Prefecture's mascot character “Habatan”

He also took the stage in Hyogo Prefecture. The mascot character “Habatan,” Hyogo Prefecture’s mascot, performed with the mascot character to promote Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. In addition, many municipal mascots collaborated in a stuffed animal competition held at the JNTO booth. They took commemorative photos with many visitors.

Of course, MYAKU-MYAKU was not the only one working hard; staff from the Expo Association also took an active role in exchanging opinions about the Expo with local travel agents!

A SNS campaign was also conducted. Thank you for the many MYAKU-MYAKU photos!

A SNS campaign was also held to award novelty goods to those who submitted pictures of MYAKU-MYAKU. Many MYAKU-MYAKU images were collected (thank you to everyone who contributed!).

Travel to Japan is popular in Hong Kong, with approximately 2.11 million people visiting Japan in 2013. In recent years, there seem to be many repeat visitors.
With this background, we had many visitors to our Expo booth. Some of the people we talked to were planning trips to the Kansai region to coincide with the Expo, and showed interest in the ticket information flyers!

These were the PR activities for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, which ended with a great success following France.
The Expo Association will continue to actively promote the event!

Extra. Night view of Hong Kong and MYAKU-MYAKU.
