Calbee, Inc. and Kameda Seika Co., Ltd., two confectionery makers known to every Japanese sweets lover, have launched a collaborative project. Their goal is to transcend the boundaries between snack and rice cracker categories and co-create “the unique excitement only sweets can provide.”
The first collaboration announced is between Calbee’s “Potato Chips” and Kameda Seika’s “Happy Turn”—two popular brands. Starting Monday, October 13, 2025, it will be available for a limited time at convenience stores nationwide!

Calbee Potato Chips Happy Turn Flavor
First up, from Calbee. Introducing “Potato Chips Happy Turn Flavor,” which recreates the taste of Kameda Seika’s signature product, Happy Turn. The packaging features the Happy Turn logo and Prince Turn, the character, making the collaboration instantly recognizable at a glance.
To recreate the flavor of Happy Turn, we used rice powder. It perfectly matches the savory aroma typical of rice crackers with the taste and texture of potato chips. And the key to Happy Turn’s flavor? That sweet-salty “magic powder.”
They say it was tough to recreate the magic powder’s taste while keeping the potato chips’ goodness intact!
I tried them myself, and the light texture of the potato chips paired perfectly with Happy Turn’s sweet-salty flavor! I just couldn’t stop eating them~.

Next up, we introduce Kameda Seika’s “35g Happy Turn Happy Butter Flavor” and “71g Happy Turn Happy Butter Flavor.”
While Calbee Potato Chips come in many flavors, their “Potato Chips Happy Butter Flavor” was chosen for this Happy Turn collaboration.
Both products share the word “Happy” in their names and feature a sweet-and-salty taste. A limited-edition product that brings super happiness has arrived!
To recreate the flavor of potato chips, we use potatoes as an ingredient. Just like the original, we combine four happy ingredients in powder form (butter, honey, parsley, mascarpone) with Happy Turn’s unique Happy Powder.
