What is Zeppin Kappa Ebisen?

Kappa Ebisen, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2024, is a snack-type shrimp cracker with the flavor of shrimp and is a long-selling product loved by men and women of all ages.
Zeppin Kappa Ebisen is a series of products that have been sold since April 2020 as “snacks for alcoholic beverages.” The large size and firm texture, the taste of the shrimp is stronger than that of regular Kappa Ebisen, and the special salt enhances the flavor of the shrimp, making it a delicious combination of ingredients that will promote alcohol consumption.
The Kappa Ebi Sen series has been well received as the perfect snack for home-drinking, with the “Hamami Shio and Wasabi” and “Seto no Shio and Scallop” flavors already on the market!

The second product co-created with fans, “Goto Nada Salt and Sweet and Sour Ginger Flavor”

The “Goto Nada Salt and Sweet and Sour Ginger Flavor” is the second product to be introduced in collaboration with the “Zeppin Kappa Ebisen” fan community, “Zeppin Club ‘Yamerarenai,Tomaranai(Japanese translation of Once you pop, you can’t stop)’ Section,” which opened in June 2022!

Furthermore, it was jointly developed by the Zaibei Department, Suntory and Calbee as a product that goes well with Suntory’s “Kinmugi [75% off sugar],” a beer-type beverage.
The community of more than 1,000 registered members was asked to choose a flavor, and out of 47 suggestions, the Suntory brewers and the Zeihinbu narrowed it down to three. The brewers and the Zeppin Club voted on the “Goto-nada Salt and Sweet and Vinegared Ginger Flavor” at a tasting event!

The combination of “Goto Nada salt,” a salt we are particular about, and “sweet and sour ginger,” enhanced by salt, makes for an irresistible dish with a superb flavor. According to the Suntory beer brewer who chose this flavor, the sweet and sour refreshing ginger flavor goes well with the refreshing taste of Kinmugi Off, resulting in a superb taste! He commented confidently, “The sweet and sour refreshing ginger flavor” goes well with the clean taste of Kinmugi Off. The “Goto-nada Salt and Sweet & Sour Ginger Flavor” Zeppin Kappa Ebisen was born from the passion of fans and the dedication of Suntory’s beer brewers!

Calbee has provided me with a bottle of Zeppin Kappa Ebisen, Goto-nada Salt and Sweet and Vinegared Ginger Flavor, so I’m going to try it with my boss, who loves to drink! Of course, we also have “Kinmugi (75% off sugar)” next to the bottle.

When I picked it up, I was surprised to see that it was twice as big as the Kappa Ebisen I know! When I took a bite, I found that it tasted sweet and sour, like gari (pickled ginger) at a sushi restaurant. The balance of saltiness and sweet and sour ginger is very good, and the crunchy texture is irresistible.
My boss tried it with Kinmugi (75% off sugar)! Beer is the best! I can’t stop eating Zeppin Kappa Ebisen! I can’t stop eating it! Just like the catchphrase of Kappa Ebisen, “YAMERARENAI TOMARANAI (Japanese translation means Once you pop, you can’t stop)!” Ahhhh, the Zeppin Kappa Ebisen was so delicious that it was gone in an instant….
