Enjoy exquisite snow crab in Miyazu, Kyoto's coastal gem! Winter-only Crab Marche Plan

When you think of Kyoto, images of temples and shrines like Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kinkaku-ji Temple, and Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine come to mind, right? In fact, overseas travelers often focus their sightseeing within Kyoto City itself.
But did you know? The Tango region in northern Kyoto Prefecture is an area facing the sea, known as the “Kyoto by the Sea,” and it’s a treasure trove of seafood. This time, we’re introducing an accommodation plan where you can luxuriously enjoy crab, the king of winter flavors. If you’re looking to discover Kyoto’s lesser-known charms, be sure to check it out.

Kyoto’s Tango Region Winter Delicacy: Matsuba Crab (Snow Crab)

The Tango area of Kyoto, facing the Sea of Japan, is famous for its delicious snow crab. Every year during crab season from November to March, the region bustles with visitors from across Kyoto Prefecture and the wider Kansai area, who come for day trips or overnight stays specifically to enjoy the crab.

Kyoto's Tango Region Winter Delicacy: Matsuba Crab (Snow Crab)

Kyoto’s Tango Matsuba crab is renowned for its rich, sweet flavor and dense, succulent meat. Its appeal lies in the exceptional freshness, as the fishing grounds are close to the port, allowing you to enjoy crab immediately after harvest.
The “Taiza Crab,” caught at Taiza Fishing Port on the Tango Peninsula, is the highest-grade brand of snow crab that meets stringent quality standards and is also called the “phantom crab.”
Here we introduce a plan where you can luxuriously enjoy Tango’s winter delicacy, crab.

Crab roe baked in its shell is a traditional way to eat it.

Additionally, this plan allows for up to 20 additional servings of crab upon request. It’s the perfect plan for those who want to indulge in crab.
*Price varies depending on the number of crabs. When ordering up to a maximum of 20 crabs, the additional charge is ¥126,000 (¥6,300 per crab when ordering 20).
