Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, is known as Japan’s oldest hot spring resort and boasts a history of approximately 3,000 years. Located in the heart of Dogo Onsen, the Dogo Onsen Main Building—a National Important Cultural Property—celebrated the 130th anniversary of its reconstruction in 2024.

In addition to its appeal as one of Japan’s premier hot spring resorts, the area has been focusing on art initiatives since 2014, further boosting its popularity as a tourist destination.

From October 2025 through February 2027, we are hosting “Mika Ninagawa with EiM × Dogo Onsen DOGO ART,” featuring Mika Ninagawa—a photographer, film director, and contemporary artist who weaves a truly unique world—and her creative team, EiM.

The concept is “The Hot Spring Where Life Blooms -A Place for Blooming-.”
Artworks are on display at the Dogo Onsen Main Building, the Dogo Onsen Annex Asuka-no-Yu, and the Dogo Shopping Street, offering visitors unforgettable sights.

Mika Ninagawa Original Yukata Rental

As part of the “Mika Ninagawa with EiM × Dogo Onsen DOGO ART” project, “original yukata” designed by Mika Ninagawa went on sale starting in August 2026.
There are two designs, both featuring graphics based on Ms. Ninagawa’s photographs.

One features a “Tsubaki (Camellia)” pattern, a vibrant design centered on the camellia—Dogo’s symbolic flower—along with blooming flowers and butterflies.

Another design features “Wagasa (Japanese umbrellas),” incorporating quintessentially Japanese motifs such as colorful Japanese umbrellas, shoji screens, and cherry blossoms.

You can rent a yukata when staying at certain hotels or ryokans, and they’re designed to be easy to put on, so you can wear one with ease.
