Hello! My name is AKI and I live in a country called Japan.

Japan is also the host country of the Olympic Games, held in the summer of 2021!

I’m sure many of you have watched the games on TV.

It’s a shame that the Olympic Games have become a no-show.
I thought that I would be able to let a lot of people know about Japan…

Japan is such a beautiful, wonderful country.
So today I’m going to tell you about the country I live in!

Where is the location of Japan?

Japan is an island nation located in East Asia.

where japan

It’s about 11 hours from the US to Japan.
Apparently it takes about 12 hours to get from France to Japan!

Surrounded by the sea, Japan’s unique culture has been established.

What is the weather in Japan? What is the temperature?

The weather changes drastically from spring to summer, autumn to winter, so be careful what you wear when you come here.

Spring, with its warm weather, is beautiful, full of colorful flowers!
The weather is relatively cool, and I’m wearing a long-sleeved shirt and a cardigan.

After that, there is a month-long rainy season called the “rainy season“.

hydrangea

It’s humid and hot and muggy, but there are sights you can only see and things you can only buy this time of year!

It’s very hot in the summer, so playing in the water is very popular!

The mountains are also very green and beautiful.

At this time of the year, I guess most people wear short sleeves or tank tops.

In autumn, the weather becomes cooler again, and it is a very comfortable season.

The leaves on the mountain turned red, creating a very magical atmosphere.

I see a lot of foreigners who come here during the fall foliage season!
Sometimes the nights can get a little chilly, so long sleeves and a thick cardigan will do the trick!

Winters in Japan are cold, and in some areas there is a lot of snow.

But there are also events that make use of the snow, and cities that are decorated with illuminations.

I guess we don’t get much snow in my area.

But I always wear a down jacket because I’m not good in the cold.

What is the food culture of Japan? What kind of food do you recommend?

Our staple food is rice, and we grow rice in many parts of Japan.
So, many dishes are based on rice.

I’ll show you some of the dishes that are popular among foreigners!

sushi

This is sushi.
I’m sure many of you have seen it before.

We’re an island nation surrounded by the sea, so we have a lot of fish dishes.

The most famous sweets are wagashi!

Very cute looking, right?

Japanese sweets are not only sweet and delicious, but they are also beautiful to look at.

Matcha is a green tea that is drunk with Japanese sweets.

macha

It’s bitter, so it’s not to everyone’s taste, but it’s perfect for sweet snacks.

Sweets made with matcha are quite popular!

I have an image that foreigners often eat it too.

Also, my foreign friends all love ramen!

There really are a lot of ramen shops in Japan, but it seems to suit the palates of foreigners as well.

In addition, there are other foods that are unique to the local area of Japan, and I will introduce them on this blog as needed.

Next time, I’ll show you some of the sights in Japan! Look forward to it!
