Japanese Souvenirs Found at Grand Green Osaka South Building, Made in Japan with Care
Category: Goods made in JAPAN

Hello, I’m Hakoboya, the souvenir promotion captain of Kodawari Times!
Osaka Station is the largest terminal station in Osaka, which has been the focus of much attention due to the 2025 Osaka, Kansai Expo. In recent years, Osaka Station has been evolving with the construction of various commercial facilities, and a new complex called “Grand Green Osaka” has just opened. In this issue, we will introduce some Japanese souvenirs found at the new Grand Green Osaka South Building, a new spot in Osaka. Be sure to check it out!
Gathering of the best products
Located on the north side of Osaka Station, the Grand Green Osaka South Building celebrated its grand opening on March 21, 2025, just steps from the Umekita underground exit of JR Osaka Station, making it the perfect place to find souvenirs at Osaka Station.
The first and second basement floors are restaurants and stores, where you can enjoy high-grade dining and shopping. In addition, there is the Umekita Onsen Ren Wellbeing Park, which has natural hot springs and a fitness center, and two hotels, the Hotel Hankyu Grand Lespire Osaka and the Waldorf Astoria Osaka. These facilities are the perfect base for sightseeing in Osaka.
Grand Green Osaka South Building offers a wide variety of high quality made-in-Japan souvenirs, including rare and unique products.
It is a good place for those who want to choose a Japan-quality product as a reward for themselves or as a gift for their loved ones. Here are some of the souvenirs I have carefully selected.
SOMÈS SADDLE, a leather goods brand of a harness maker in Hokkaido
A brand of handmade leather products born from a general harness manufacturer in Hokkaido established in 1964. The brand sells high-quality leather products such as bags and wallets, utilizing the techniques and traditions cultivated over many years in harness making.
This bag is based on the motif of a saddle, one of the harnesses that people need when riding a horse. The curves of the saddle are reproduced in this beautiful design. It has been loved for many years as the iconic bag of SOMÈS SADDLE.
This wallet has a very nice U-shaped “teitetsu” brooch that is attached to the hoof of a horse! Horseshoes are said to be a “motif of good luck,” and it looks like it could be good for your luck.
There are also small leather goods crossed with wood, with motifs of Hokkaido animals such as Ezo squirrels, which are very cute ♡
Made in Japan eyeglass frame brand “999.9 (Four Nines)”
“999.9 (Four Nines)” offers high-quality eyeglass frames made in Japan. The name comes from the quality mark “999.9” engraved on a pure gold ingot, and the company pursues the highest purity quality. The concept of the brand is “A pair of glasses is a tool.” As the concept says, the glasses are easy to wear, hard to break, and easy to adjust.
The store offers a full lineup of products in a sophisticated space. There is a horizontal mirror to look around your face and a full-length mirror so you can check your glasses along with your coordination.
The shop also has a fitting space and a dedicated maintenance counter, so you can rest assured of aftercare after purchase! Recommended for those who want to take their time to choose the glasses that fit them best.
“Sanyo Yamacho Iki” of Japanese fine men’s shoes and 100-nen coat
“Sanyo Yamacho Iki” is the first store in the Kansai region to be opened by Sanyo Yamacho, a Japanese men’s shoe brand, and Sanyo Coat, a Japanese-made coat brand offering “100-nen coat” (100 years coat) and other products.
The store’s interior, themed “Japanese Iki,” incorporates the techniques of Japanese tearoom architecture, providing a relaxed atmosphere in which customers can take their time in selecting products.
The “Zero” series is the top line of Sanyo Yamacho’s men’s shoes. These shoes have a seamless upper with zero seams. These top-quality men’s shoes are made of a single piece of leather using the advanced skills of our shoemakers. The perfect design from every angle is recommended for those who are particular about the beauty of their feet.
And the “100-nen coat” (100 years coat) , a coat made in Japan by “Sanyo Coat” that aims to be “a coat that will be loved for a long time beyond generations”. The high-quality coats made in Japan at a factory in Aomori Prefecture that has been making coats for 56 years are sure to be loved by all!
Customizable with “Nike By You”! Nike Umeda
Nike, one of the world’s leading sports brands, has opened its first directly-managed store in the northern area of Osaka. The 1,400-square-meter space offers a wide variety of footwear, apparel, and sportswear.
Grand Green Osaka is also home to the lush Umekita Park, which is a great place to stock up on running and walking shoes and clothing.
Nike Umeda is also the first store in the Kansai region to offer the “Nike By You” service, which allows customers to customize shoes, T-shirts, caps, and other items to their own liking. This service allows customers to customize shoes, T-shirts, caps, and other items to their liking.
The “NIKE” logo badge, as well as the Nike Umeda exclusive “Umeda Logo” are also very cool! Once the design is decided, the staff will press it and it will be completed.
How about making customized items with “Nike By You” for NIKE lovers as well as the one and only Osaka souvenirs?
SUSgallery, a titanium wear brand from Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture
There was not only apparel, but also a store selling Japanese-born kitchen tools.
SUSgallery is a titaniumware brand born in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, known as a metalworking town in Japan, that offers tumblers, bottle keepers, and other products based on the technology of manufacturing stainless steel thermos bottles for over 40 years.
SUSgallery tumblers feature amazing cold and heat retention! The tumblers are made of double-layered titanium vacuum, so the outside temperature is not transferred to the beverage.
As proof of this, the ice in this tumbler had not melted at all even after several hours of use.
It also prevents condensation from forming, so there are no water droplets on your hands or table!
Furthermore, the coloring produced by processing titanium rather than coloring it is very mysterious and beautiful. Since each piece is made by a craftsman, the appearance of the coloring varies from piece to piece.
We hope you will try SUSgallery’s tumblers, which are durable and offer a great drinking experience.
Editorial, a select store of high-quality lifestyle goods
Lastly, we would like to introduce Editorial, a select store with five stores across Japan.
With the concept of “editing the sales floor like editing a magazine,” the store offers a wide variety of products to enrich your lifestyle.
A great souvenir to commemorate the occasion is the BIRTHDAY ESSENCE MIST. It is a total of 366 fabric mists made from a combination of 12 oils by month and 31 fragrances by date! It is perfect for birthdays and important anniversaries, as well as for commemorating the day of your trip to Osaka. When you go home and smell the fragrance, you will be filled with the memory of happy memories.
A similar item was the 365 Find Your Day Card. This card is also cute with a different pop design for each day.
The item we recommend while traveling is this “CITY PASSPORT”. It is a pouch that functions as both a wallet and a pass case. It comes in a variety of designs, so it’s hard to decide which one to choose!
There were also key chains, all one-of-a-kind, made from a patchwork of old kimono cloth! I recommend these for Japanese-style souvenirs such as beckoning cats and daruma dolls.
“Editorial” has many unique Japanese-made goods that you won’t find anywhere else, so you’re sure to discover something new every time you come!
