Minshuku is a small japanese guest house.

Japanese “Farmer’s Minshuku” offers an experience of an old Japanese dwelling.
*Minshuku is accommodations with mainly Japanese-style guest rooms.

There are many wonderful minshuku in Japan where you can experience the traditional Japanese way of life.

I went on vacation, and here’s what you can expect to experience!

This time, I visited a “Farmer’s Guest House” in Shinshiro City, Aichi!

Minshuku is run by a couple.

He bought the house when he was 50 years old and started a farmhouse Minshuku.

They have several Minshuku’s in Shinshiro City!
It used to be visited by many people.

I was able to stay in a traditional Japanese house, which impressed even me as a Japanese.

Spending time on the wooden porch is a relaxing experience for body and soul.

To use an analogy…
It is a place where you want to say “I’m home,” as if you were returning to your parents’ home in the countryside.

This time I had a lot of “experiences” in this place full of nature!

First, the pizza-making experience. Making pizza dough from scratch was unexpectedly difficult.
After about an hour of dough kneading and several hours of dough fermentation, I were finally ready to start baking the pizza.

I then spent three hours chopping wood.

After building a fire in the stone oven, I were finally able to cook the pizza.

The pizza tasted even better because of the time it took to make.

For dinner, I had BBQ.

Nothing like eating and drinking while feeling the breeze outside!

I slept soundly in the Japanese-style room.

There are no houses around, so it is very quiet when I sleep.

Enjoying nature and having delicious food experiences are the charms of spending time at Farmhouse Minshuku.

I had pizza as well as smoked cheese, grilled ayu fish, and the ancient Shinshiro City tradition of “gohei-mochi” rice cakes!

Incidentally, they offer a variety of Japanese experiences depending on the season. (For example, a rice cake pounding contest in winter!)

I highly recommend Farmhouse Minshuku, where you can enjoy the great outdoors.
If you come to Japan, please visit Farmhouse Minshuku and experience nature and Japanese culture!

Hello! I live in a place called Shiga, Japan. I'm not very good at English, but I'm writing this blog in the hope that I can convey some of Japan's beautiful places and delicious food to people overseas.
