In Japan, there are “antenna shops” in major cities.
Antenna shops are stores opened by local governments to introduce their specialties and traditional crafts to the public and to find out how consumers react to their purchases.
They are often opened in busy downtown areas. This time we visited an antenna store in the Umeda area of Osaka.
“Emon Shop” where you can buy products from Aomori and Iwate Prefectures.
First, we went to the “Emon Shop,” a five-minute walk from Osaka Station. Here, the store sells souvenirs and other items from Aomori and Iwate prefectures.
Aomori Prefecture is known for its apples! Brand-name apples, which are hard to find in Osaka, were lined up.
There were also many processed apple products. Apple juice, apple cider vinegar, etc.
This is also apple juice. It is cute with a picture of Aomori’s festivals! It has a refreshing taste and is very easy to drink.
Other delicacies and snacks of seafood were also available.
Washita Shop Lynx Umeda” for Okinawa souvenirs
Next is the Washita Shop Links Umeda Store, located in the basement of a store called Yodobashi Camera in Umeda.
Awamori and Orion beer, both classic Okinawan alcoholic beverages, are on display, and there are also classic sweets such as red potato tarts and chinsuko.
Shisa, an ornament placed at the entrance of buildings in Okinawa Prefecture. It is starting to feel more and more like Okinawa.
Since I was in the mood, I bought some seekers’ juice. It is sour, refreshing and delicious!
In front of this Washita Shop Links Umeda store, there was also a store selling products from all over Japan.
You can find many souvenirs from western Japan and Kyushu, so be sure to take a look.
